The About page of a blog is often overlooked.
Yet it is one of the most important landing pages for any website.
Think about it.
If someone visits your website, wouldn’t they be interested to know who the owner is? That is the quickest way to build trust. No one wants to deal with a website, they want to interact with a real person. That is why bloggers put up their profile photos somewhere usually at the end of each article with a short description of themselves.
When creating your About page, you want to turn it into an effective channel for converting your visitors into customers.
1. It’s about your READERS! The About page is not a place for your whole life story or rants. You can rant a bit if it is relevant to your website’s overall direction but make sure it is not a full blown article. Your readers want to know what they can get from your website and so please make the point, clearly and quickly.
2. Put a face to the name. Always include a personal photo or two in your About page. It doesn’t have to be a corporate profile photo. In fact, studies show that casual photos are the best as they convey approachability. Having said that, photos of yourself in pyjamas or overly casual settings are best avoided unless that’s the theme for your website.
